ARTIST FOCUS: SIRS thumbnail image

Ahead of his debut at Basement Love x PNNY at Canggu’s favourite beachfront party spot, La Brisa on 8th February, we managed to catch up with Ibiza based, German production powerhouse, SIRS. A long time visitor to Bali and a firm fixture on Europe’s music scene he came out with some monster records in 2018 and 2019. His album is about to drop at the end of January and the 20 year plus veteran is showing no sign of taking his foot off the gas. Championed by dance music royalty such as DJ Harvey, Sirs brings a mix of italo, hi Nrg, Proto house, electro and post disco to the dance floor. Don’t sleep on this one.

You’re Playing At La Brisa Soon For Basement Love X Pnny. How Did That Collaboration Come About?

I was introduced to Tiago through a friend of mine – the talented Dj and producer Johannes Albert from Berlin. We stayed then in contact and agreed on this date. I very much looking forward to play because the party and the venue are outstanding and one of the best which Bali’s nightlife has to offer under my opinion.

Have You Seen A Big Change In Ibiza Over The Past 20 Years And What Pit Falls Could You Anticipate For Bali In The Future?

Don’t believe the hype!

If You’re Not Travelling Or In The Studio Where Can You Be Found?

I love to be with friends and family, enjoying sunsets.
At the moment i am single so i can often use my free time in listening to music – searching the internet for hidden treasures and often getting inspired by little impulses for some new ideas.

You Were One Of The Crew At Space In Ibiza, You Must Have Some Great Memories From Such An Iconic Club.

I was resident there from 1996-2000 playing the Terrace on Sunday ( by that time still open air and on a shitty Soundsystem ) and the Manumission Carry on Tuesdays.

Space by that time was the only after hour club opening the doors at 7 and 8 AM. Happy people in the morning was the credo and this is what i always remember.  It was about having a good time and party. There was no Instagram no Facebook / no smartphones at all. I guess people enjoyed different in that time – but as i said before – other times other circumstances.

Good You Share With Us A Couple Of You’re All Time Favourite Tracks To Get Our Readers Party Ready Ahead Of The Weekend?

Jasper Street Company – A Feeling [After Midnight Mix]

This one since it has been released in early 90s never was never leaving my bag or playlist – such a timeless tune and only this Dutch version brings it on point!

Kenlou – The Bounce [MAW Records ‎– MAW 0003]

A other classic by the Masters – a simple bouncy trippy track – timeless and always working well in the right moment ! Glory times of MAW.

An all time balearic italo disco classic – i did once an edit and it became an official re release – the original is such a beauty and i made it more dj friendly focussing on the second part “my desire” with a touch of night rider in and thats it. 10 min of a ride!

Lock down 8th February, 2020 in your calendars now, for you’re in for an explosive night of quality dance floor hits and partying with SIRS, NYRA and the Basement Love x PNNY crew.
