INSPIRATION SERIES: ANJUNADEEP FEATURING BEN BÖHMER & JODY WISTERNOFF

Anjunadeep Open Air returns to Omnia for another round after the last visit proved to be one of the most popular events of the year! As they embark on their immense Australasia tour The Anjuna crew will come to Bali to play at Omnia on Sunday, October 27th.

The headliners coming to Bali are Ben Böhmer and Jody Wisternoff and both very kindly agreed to give us a selection of Inspiration tracks that makes them do what they do.

First up is Ben who will be performing a live set on the day. Ben’s roots are musically deep, learning the piano, the trumpet and growing up under the influence of many different musical genres as a child.

It wasn’t until later on, that he came to electronic music through experiments with synthesizers and became a producer. His live sets are amazing as he improvises around his own productions, which have appeared on such esteemed labels as Keller Rec., Ostfunk Rec., Ton Töpferei, Freundchen Rec. & Bade Records.

Through newly created sounds for every gig, it’s simply impossible to sit still while the “Böhmer Sound” is booming and giving you an individual experience every time. These performances always create individual experiences pulling in the audience through that prolific yet deep “Böhmer Sound”.

Enjoy Ben’s Inspiration selection and get a taste for what goes on in the mind of the man set to blow yours on Sunday, October 27th.

JOSEPH RAY – ROOM 1.5
“Absolute madness. This one needs no words. One of my highlights this year!”

ARIOSE – DRIFT
“This one comes from a young British producer who sent the track as a demo to my label Ton Töpferei. I was absolutely blown away. The mood, the drive, and the energy are fantastic and we are really glad that this was released on our label.”

NILS HOFFMANN – ONCE IN A BLUE MOON
“Once In A Blue Moon is the title song of the debut album from my dear friend Nils Hoffmann. The theme is so strong and catches me directly. He is a great producer and this one is for the books.”

FRITZ KALKBRENNER – KINGS & QUEENS
“Kings & Queens is the single of Fritz Kalkbrenner’s new album. The warm and organic sounds, combined with his strong voice is a wonderful combination. Definitely one of my favorites.”

BROKEN BELL – THE HIGH ROAD
“While traveling I listen through different genres and have found this – since then I can not get enough of the track. The chorus, the electronic elements that are combined with a rocking instrumental, are a nice combination.”

JODY WISTERNOFF’S MUSICAL INSPIRATION SELECTION:

Also performing on the day will be Jody Wisternoff who will be playing an extended set late into the night! Jody has been at the forefront of the scene since the late 80’s, where he, along with his brother, reached the finals of the highly respected DMC Hip-Hop mix championships. He then went on to form the mercurial duo Way Out West with Nick Warren, before going solo and further establishing himself as one of the scene’s brightest lights.

This led to him teaming up with Anjuna where he is not only a priority act but also A&R searching out for new talent. So sit back, relax and enjoy a selection from one of the most respected names in the game!

JORIS VOORN – MESSIAH
“Here we have Joris coming with another peaktime bit of dance floor magic, this time channeling his early 90s breakbeat inner child. The bpms are high at 128, and the classic breakbeat brings on waves of nostalgia. Recognisable vocal one hits from an era gone by surround the catchy lead vox from Haelos, and almost trance like stabs and arps float above the growling reece-like bassline. Everything Joris does sounds incredible and this is no exception, a straight up banger!”

THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS – HEY BOY HEY GIRL (KiNK EXTENDED REMIX)
“As one of dance music’s absolute classics, it must have been a real challenge to remix this track and try to match the excellence of the original. Fair play to KiNK for rising to the challenge, and I must say he has done a mighty fine job! Staying true to the original arrangement and sound palette, but bringing the energy up a notch whilst adding his own unique twist of madness – this is truly a peaktime moment to be reckoned with. One of the best in the game, KiNK wins again.”

LANE 8 – BRIGHTEST LIGHTS FEAT. POLIÇA
“This is the sound of Lane8 on tip top form. He has really perfected this style of almost pop like super catchy vocals, but avoiding any cheesy cliches which is no easy feat. POLIÇA sounds sublime on this track, and the backing is pacy but warm and kinda soft and sounds lush on a sound system. Swirling atmospherics and emotional chords continue throughout, and give the track a soothing quality which sets a great mood. If the rest of the album is as good as this lead track, we are in for a lovely ride.”

OTHERLiiNE (GEORGE FITZGERALD & LIL SILVA) – CHIMES
“For me, every single ingredient in this track is perfect, which is not surprising considering the pedigree of the producers involved. Kicking off with the dopest rolling beat you have ever heard, soon followed by a hypnotic chime which is then cloaked with a gorgeous mid90s style pad. In comes the deeply analog sounding synth and bassline , whilst crazy vocal hits keep the energy at full impact. At 127bpm this has some serious momentum, but also sounds great played a little slower for us deep-house heads. Nothing more to say besides check this one out, you will thank me later :)”

See you all at Anjunadeep Open Air Bali on the 27th October!
