JAGAJAGA is one of the islands most underground and alternative music producers and is this weeks focus of attention in the latest episode of our BEATMASTERS series. When he is not found pushing sound systems to their limits at his spiritual home, Bali’s most underground spot for alternative sounds TUCK & TRAP he likes to hide away in dark rooms and make music that would scare most grown men never mind children!
We were honoured when he agreed to give us an insight into his work with this kick ass noise inspired track entitled Hell Weed and answer a few questions about the making of it and the inspiration behind it…

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR THE TRACK?
I was trying to make rhythms out of entirely raw and brutal noises, it got no kicks or snare, it’s all just noises cut ups that I arrange into a rhythm. I was also trying to turn disturbing sounds (for some) into something they can nod their head to.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DID YOU USE?
I sampled a noise artist, Sooncrazy, who are using a noise generator and pedals, then right through my soundcard, and then arranged it on Ableton.
